Increased policing activity during Jewish High Holy Days

Thames Valley Police is increasing its support for Jewish communities during the Jewish High Holy Days.

Residents may notice an increased police presence, including neighbourhood officers, Project Servator deployments and specialist policing resources. Some policing activity will be visible, while other tactics will remain operationally sensitive.

Antisemitic incidents have been rising internationally since the Hamas terror attack on 7 October 2023, including the subsequent fatal terror attacks last year at a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur and on Bondi Beach, Australia, at a Chanukah celebration.

The operation aims to protect Jewish communities, deter criminality and ensure a rapid response to any incidents.
